The Rest!
My dance experience is extensive (please see Resumé). I enjoy so many styles, and can handle most things you throw at me! I also served as a dance captain for my high school show choir Starlights for two of my four years total in the auditioned show choir and as a Hybrid (meaning I was actively participating in two advanced show choirs and two advanced concert choirs), and enjoyed every minute of it. I have also dabbled in choreography, emphasizing in tap! I have
found that when it comes to being a good dance leader, it is important to have the proper dancing abilities, but even more important to have the ability to motivate and inspire.
In most of my social media bios, you will find the words "Performer, Leader, Learner", of which the order is intentional. My leadership opportunities have been plentiful, as I cannot do any activity without diving headfirst, all in. In addition to being a dance captain, I have served as a vocal captain, a sorority chairwoman on our Honor Council simultaneously performing as our Academic Excellence and Social Media heads, a choreographer, a makeup design and chair head, and in many other positions. I believe my leadership abilities are what helps me when I am directing and instructing voice. I have both assistant directed and directed operas and plays, and have taught a wide range of students from 14 to 64! I adore my time doing so because of how it informs the rest of my processes as a performer, artist, and writer. It provides a unique experience in seeing it all come together from a distance, while learning when to control, and when to let go.
"Learner" is the last word, as I feel it is the most important. I adore academics, but also learning in general, especially about anything related to art. I believe understanding how things work, and as many as possible, shape me into a better artist and coworker, especially for those who are behind the scenes. But mostly, I enjoy doing anything and everything even slightly related to art, because I am that big of a nerd. I love painting, drawing, sculpting, photography, fashion, baking, cooking, cake decorating, makeup, social media, video editing, graphic design, songwriting, playing instruments, decorating, reading, watching films, playing video games, thrifting, collecting, just being around art, and so, so, sooooo much more! Most importantly, I love the challenge of trying something new.
